DOC'S BLOG: Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning?

Think back to September 11, 2001. It was a beautiful sunny morning in NEPA and just before 9 AM, our world had changed. I remember staying on the air until 1:30 that afternoon with Kate Moss who was my fill-in co-host keeping the Froggy listeners with the most up to date info we could get our hands on about the terror attack to hit New York, D.C. and Western Pa. I remember my wife Michele leaving Bloomsburg University to run to Valley Elementary School to get my sons Christian and Sean out and bring them up here to the radio station because we wanted to be all together as a family in case something happened in NEPA. Many lives were lost from this terrorist attack on America...the worst since Pearl Harbor. We eventually went home late that afternoon and what stood out to me was how quiet it was, very little traffic and no planes overhead. The next morning I remember driving along Interstate 80 to come to work and the traffic signs that usually tel you about road construction said. "I-80 closed at the GW Bridge...no access to NYC." Eventually, as the days went on, more and more people got back to their morning routine and their lives went on. I remember the sense of Patriotism in America with flags on cars and displayed at homes. It was even hard to buy them for a while. Eighteen years later, let's think about how we looked at each other as family and not as strangers to work together and hopefully never experience anything like 9/11/01 again!
