DOC'S BLOG: Everyone Has a Side Gig

March 8, 2019

I'm very fortunate to get to do what I love every day of the week. When I was younger, I was always told I would never make it in radio and I should just give up and find another job. The negative comments are what pushed me to work even harder to prove everyone wrong. Radio has opened up some other opportunities for me like public speaking about my childhood and career and even doing TV from time to time. When WBRE-TV was on the search for a new co-host for Haley Bianco, I was given the opportunity to co-host Pa Live from time to time. I had no TV experience at all when I started but you learn fast and get a little better each time. Here's what I learned from TV, I showered twice a the morning for the radio show and in the afternoon before the TV appearance. I'm always clean shaven for TV, hair (what's left of it) in place, clothes ironed, suck your gut in and learn to talk and read a teleprompter while a director is speaking to you in your ear piece (IFB). So much fun. I hope you get to do what you love and if not, maybe it's time. Never quit on your dream!
